Anglo American Corporation and South African Breweries
ZAMBIA BREWERIES LIMITED
Zambia Breweries is one of Zambia's leading industrial companies. Its Central
Division (known as the Lusaka Division) was sold to Zamanglo (ZAMIC), a
subsidiary of Anglo American Corporation and Indol International BV, a
sibsidiary of South African Breweries. Amongst several objectives of its
privatisation were creation of competition in the beer industry, Zambian
participation and guarantees of employment. The Central Divison was sold
at a price of US$13.8 million. The price payable by Anglo Amercican and
South African Breweries is net of their shareholding interests and the
value of the shareholding reserved for public participation.
